Sports presenter Charissa Thompson talks about her new interior design company

Sports presenter Charissa Thompson calls the shots on and off camera. At the start of the pandemic, the television host, who worked for Fox Sports, ESPN, Additional, and more – started his own interior design business. Appointed Home & Home, Thompson and his team pride themselves on providing affordable design services. “We’re not here to make a ton of money,” she said A D. “Our goal is to make your home a home. We like to equate our business with fashion, so instead of couture clothes you will never buy, you are looking for a practical quality alternative.

She has been successfully reinventing homes across the country for just over a year now and has no plans to slow down. “One of my dreams would be to walk into someone’s house and not spend a dime, but use their existing items to make a difference,” she says. “Sometimes people use finances as the reason they can’t fix their house, but I’m telling you, paint and good design go a long way. “

Recently, Thompson transformed his own garage, creating a home office from which to run his business. Her mission was to create something functional while emphasizing the comfort that comes with working from home. Below, Thompson leaves A D in his design book.

Architectural summary: What made you want to start an interior design business?

Charissa Thompson: As with sports, my love for interior design started when I was very young. When my parents were building their first house together – I think I was six years old – I remember my mother saying, “Since you’re the youngest, you have to choose first: which room do you want? This was probably the only time I got special treatment and chose the room with the bay window. I have always loved design, so I decided to make my passion a profession during the pandemic because I discovered that so many people wanted to feel more at home and change their space.

Where does your inspiration come from?

When I was working at Additional, I heard someone call my name. I turned around and walked over and she said, “My name is Amber Lewis and I love your show.” I panicked because I didn’t expect to see the famous [force behind] Amber Interiors, who I love, at work. It was surreal. I am also very inspired by Studio McGee. Their affordable and accessible Target collection aligns with House & Home. I’m all about the up-down – spend a lot on the couch, not the console. Kelly Wearstler is my muse, but I don’t take as many risks as she does. Not everyone can be like her; she’s in a class on her own.

Ample storage space was essential for Thompson’s home office. She also added unique touches such as a Kelly Wearstler lamp and CB2 chairs.
